What are the contest categories?
Please refer to our Categories page for a full breakdown of the categories.
Who can enter?
The main Categories and Awards are open to all ages and nationalities.
Any entrant under 18 on the 11th October 2026 must gain the permission of a parent or guardian to enter the competition and should enter the Youth Category of the Awards.
What are the prizes?
Please refer to our prizes page for details of the competition prizes.
When will the winners be announced?
The Shortlist will be announced on 3rd January 2027 and the winners on 7th March 2027.
How many images can I enter?
The number of images you are permitted to enter will depend on the image package purchased.
What does it cost to enter?
Please see our Entry Package page for a breakdown of options and costs.
How many times can I enter?
You can enter as many times as you wish, subject to purchasing an additional entry package.
Can I withdraw or swap an image once I’ve entered it?
You cannot withdraw or swap an image from the Awards once you have confirmed its entry via our entry system.
Do images have to be taken with a Mirrorless or DSLR camera?
No. Images can be taken on any device capable of producing an image of at least 4 megapixels, including phones, GoPros, tablets, compact cameras and larger cameras such as DSLRs. Digital scans of images captured on film are also eligible.
Do images have to be taken in the United Kingdom?
No, WildArt Bird Photography Awards is international and you may enter photographs taken anywhere in the world.
Is there a time limit on when the images were taken?
No, images taken at any time are eligible for entry.
Can I submit retouched images?
There are some restrictions on the use of digital manipulation. Full guidelines on what image manipulation and retouching is allowed is provided in the rules.
Is the use of AI allowed?
No. The use of AI manipulation/generation in whole or part is strictly forbidden save mild noise reduction and sharpening.
Are images taken with camera traps allowed?
Yes. However, the judges will need to be satisfied that any image captured with a camera trap or other form of remotely triggered camera is the solely the product of the submitting photographer’s work in regard to location research and camera technical set up, and that they may rightly claim sole copyright for the image.
Can I crop my images?
Yes, you may crop your images. Please remember that you will be required to supply a file at least 3,000 pixels on the shortest side should your image/s be shortlisted for an award position.
How should I prepare my images for submission?

Why can’t I add a watermark to my images?
We ask that you do not add a watermark to your images as the judging process needs to remain anonymous at all times. Any image submitted with a watermark will be removed from the judging process during the first elimination round.
